I’m with The Donald.

I am 100% in agreement with Donald Trump’s proposal to rebuild Manhattan’s twin towers to their original design. Sure, the twin towers were ugly. They were also a throwback to the worst in 1970′s architecture and probably inefficient as office space as well, but they were also a defining element of the New York skyline. The tiny group of savages that destroyed them should not be given the authority to dictate how we live our lives, and responding to their despicable act by changing how we design our cities does just that.

Trump’s idea is simple: put the towers back where they were and make them one floor taller. It’s not a matter of jingoism or flag-waving, it is a matter of not giving any more of our life over to an insignificant group of lunatics.

As my friend Alex noted, rebuilding the towers sends a simple message; “You knocked them down, we put them back. Get bent.”

The most beautiful time of the Year

Right now, the lilacs outside of my house are coming into full bloom, and the aroma is heady and evocative. The short time that lilacs are in bloom has always been a favorite time of year for me, and I am thankful to be here in Rhode Island to experience it. I wish there was some way that I could post the smell online.

My Mothers’ Day Present

Weegee, my always-thoughtful cat, just presented me with a lovely Mothers’ Day surprise; a complete, intact bird’s nest (sans bird or eggs, thankfully) which she painstakingly hauled through both cat doors and deposited in the center of my kitchen floor. At least I think it came from the cat. The house is a bit of a mess right now, but I want to believe that I would have noticed something like that if it had been sitting in the middle of my kitchen floor all along.

The Infinite Developer Project

See if you notice any similarities between this photo of the folks I was working with in Colorado and the photos on The Infinite Cat Project.

Done!

The project that I have been working on here in Pueblo since the first of the year is now operational, and my part of the effort is complete. This morning, the system came to life on schedule and it is currently selling, cashing, and reporting as it should. Tomorrow morning I board a flight for RI where I hope to get some rest over the next few days.

It has been a long project, but made enjoyable thanks to the wonderful group of people I have had the pleasure to work with, all of whom were professional, helpful, and a delight to know.
