No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to see better.

Today at noon I am scheduled to have the front of my eyeballs peeled off, and a high-power laser fired into them until the physical dimensions of my cornea are altered significantly. I will pay someone good money for this, and they will send me away with cheap sunglasses and the promise of improved uncorrected vision. We shall see. Ben had the procedure done some weeks back and is very pleased, but my prescription is the exact opposite of his (I am very far-sighted while he was quite nearsighted) and correcting farsigntedness is a bit more involved. I will report back once the smoke clears.
December 15 Update: It is now over a month since having the procedure, and I am very, very pleased by the results. It was a bit unnerving to endure, but thanks to receiving JUST enough Valium to keep me from running out of there screaming, I was able to get through it. Just. Oh, and there is in fact smoke, plus the faint smell of burning cornea which in no way resembles anything you are likely to encounter elsewhere.Â
